Dear PGES Families,
I am excited to share with you that at its monthly meeting last night, the Hanover County School Board appointed Mrs. Jamie Mullenaux as the new principal of Pole Green Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025. Mrs. Mullenaux comes to Pole Green with a wealth of experience in education, including in her current role serving as the assistant principal at Cool Spring Elementary School.
Mrs. Mullenaux, a Virginia Tech alumna who also earned certification in administration and supervision at the University of Richmond, is a Hanover County resident. She was previously a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Mechanicsville Elementary School and an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher at Henry Clay and John M. Gandy elementary schools. A National Board Certified Teacher, she was the Virginia Department of Education’s Region 1 Teacher of the Year in 2012. She has served as the assistant principal at Cool Spring for the past seven years. Mrs. Mullenaux is deeply committed to lifelong learning and fostering growth among both students and staff.
Over the next few months, I will be working with Mrs. Mullenaux to ensure a smooth transition for her to lead Pole Green. Mrs. Mullenaux will reach out to the community when she begins her new position in July, including opportunities to get to know you and your student.
As I shared with you last month, while I am excited for retirement, I am leaving our school with a heart full of memories and every confidence in the future of Pole Green Elementary, because Great Gators Accomplish Great Things! This will be true under Mrs. Mullenaux’s leadership and I look forward to seeing the great things that our school will accomplish.
